SJAA Mission Statement
It is the mission of the St. John’s Athletic Association (SJAA) to provide all of our student athletes with an excellent opportunity to participate in an athletic experience, with the result that their athletic experience becomes a valued component of their total catholic educational experience at St. John the Evangelist School.
We embrace these guiding principles:
•To promote character development, Christian values, leadership qualities,
sportsmanship and academic excellence in our student athletes.
•To contribute to the enhancement of school spirit within the community of students,
faculty and parish.
•To develop in our student athletes appropriate skills in their representative sports.
•To fundraise for and contribute towards the improvement of St John the Evangelist
athletic facilities, equipment and the school physical education program.
Athletic Philosophy
The athletic program at St. John the Evangelist exists to supplement the physical
education program of the school. We will strive to develop the motor skills of the
students, teach the fundamentals of the particular sport and encourage the students to
have fun while practicing and participating in healthy competition with their classmates
and community.

Our coaches will focus on teaching the children to play the game properly.
•Winning is the result of playing the game properly.
•Winning “is not” the focus of the program.
•All teams are determined by open try-outs.
•Children are grouped according to ability and grade level.
